So this is going to be about how I worked to strengthen and build up my Throat Chakra. This is the fifth chakra and sits right where it's name suggests: at the throat. The corresponding colour is blue and it is represented by a lotus that has 16 petals. The Sanskrit name is Vishuddha which translates to "purification".
Because of where this Chakra is located, this Chakra is all about communication and expressing ourselves. But communication isn't just verbal, it's also non-verbal so anything that is thought or written is influenced by this Chakra. Sometimes this communication energy can present in surprising ways, like through telepathy.
When the Throat Chakra is balanced, any communication you make is considered and well-thought-through. We can become more aware of how our words can affect those around us while still expressing our desires and needs clearly. Maintaining our personal integrity by speaking our truth without hurting others is also possible when this Chakra is in balance.
By contrast, when the Throat Chakra is not balanced, we can talk too much and about nothing in particular. Because of this, we can find it difficult to listen to others, while they find it difficult to listen to us. Not being communicative and not being clear when we do communicate are symptoms of this Chakra being out of balance.
The Throat Chakra isn't just associated with communication and integrity as it's also associated with willpower and creativity. This Chakra is associated with Turquoise, Blue Agate and Aquamarine as crystals, the flower Gardenia, and the following essential oils: Blue Chamomile, Gardenia, and Ylang Ylang. Any one of these (or a combination of them) could be used when focusing on improving the energy of the Throat Chakra.
When it comes to communication, I have previously struggled to share my truth with others. As a child, I was always taught to be quiet and only speak when spoken to. I was never allowed to express my emotions and this has caused me issues all through my adult life. It is becoming easier to express how I feel and I'm learning how to hold space for others to also be able to express their feelings and truths.
Integrity is all about having certain moral values that you won't be persuaded to set aside. I haven't always followed through when I said I would do certain things but I have improved and I now try to take some initiative. Personally, I do value integrity and I feel like most of my relationships are built on this and honesty.
I no longer hide from my personal truth, especially when my own body is showing it to me. I am still learning how to listen to my own body but I am getting better at it. I still struggle to discern when others are being untruthful to me, mainly because it's easier when face-to-face and most of my interactions are online. I have come to believe that truth is better than dishonesty because dishonesty will wound far deeper and for longer than truth. Truth starts the healing process but dishonesty will only make this more challenging as each further experience with dishonesty will reopen this wound so that it cannot heal.
When it comes to willpower, I've had to develop mine during adulthood as I had zero autonomy or voice when I could have as a child. I struggle to find my willpowerto do "household" chores like dusting but I can find it to sit and write or work on another project. Food and exercise are also areas that I struggle to find my willpower for - keeping to portion sizes for food, and actually doing some kind of exercise. I do make a conscious attempt to complete tasks that I set myself without overdoing the discipline side of having willpower.
Creativity is also associated with the Throat Chakra so I feel like this is something I'm pretty okay for. I can write my blog, stories and do cross-stitch whether it is my own design or a kit. I feel like food is a creative outlet as I do cook a variety of dishes, like butter chicken, fish katsu curry, sausage casserole and a whole host of others. I don't always follow recipes but I like to have a selection to choose from, Perhaps I could be more creative around my home with decorating but this is a long-term project rather than an easy-fix.
So this was my experience considering everything associated with the Throat Chakra. I hope that it will inspire you to think about how you can work to improve and open your own Throat Chakra.
Peace and love to all!!!!
