New Moon in Cancer 2025

ree

Merry Meet and Welcome to you magickal souls!!!!

It's time to think about the next lunar event which happens to be the New Moon in Cancer. This is also the first New Moon after the Summer Solstice and is a time for celebrating the start of summer, even if sometimes it happens a little while after the Solstice. It is happening around Wednesday 25th June 2025, but please be aware that the various global timezones may show differently for some of us.

It's time for the second half of the year so this New Moon in Cancer is the perfect opportunity to do some planning around this new chapter of life. Cancer is all about intuition, self-care, female (or feminine) power, and a kind of deep nurturing, so this New Moon is our chance to put ourselves first, especially if we have any kind of people-pleasing tendencies.

This New Moon in Cancer is showing us how to set aside some time each day to take care of our own selves, perhaps even taking a whole day to do something that we've been wanting to do or a whole weekend even.

Cancer is ruled by the Moon so it is calling us to go deeper into the waves of emotions we experience as we go through life. As this New Moon is connected to our Heart Chakra, perhaps we could use this New Moon to see how we can fulfil our emotional needs, break down any barriers/walls we have built to try to protect our heart, or break free from any unhealthy emotional attachments we might have.

In an effort to plan for the future, we could take some time to look back on the intentions or resolutions we made at the start of the calendar year or even the ones we might have set at the Spring Equinox (which coincides with the start of the astrological new year). If we look back at these and review them, we could potentially work out what worked for us, where we can improve, and/or what we need to change.

As I've previously stated, this New Moon is a great time to prioritise self-care. So nurturing, nourishing and being gentle are the orders of the day. At least 30 minutes of a personal activity per day is recommended but we could always have more or less as it is a personal decision how much time we take for this.

With the sign of Cancer being symbolised by the Crab, there's a hard outer shell protecting the soft meat inside. This is an analogy for us and our emotions: the outer shell acting as the proverbial barriers and walls we might erect around our hearts which are the soft meat within. Looking within to understand ourselves more is never a bad activity and always lead us towards personal growth, knowledge and wisdom.

To bring all of these ideas and energies together, I have put together a collective reading for this New Moon in Cancer using the Alice in Wonderland tarot deck by Disney.

Where have we been neglecting looking after our own selves the most?

Four of Spears

With this card, we have been so busy looking after everyone else that we have completely forgotten about ourselves. We aren't ready for the future because we are in denial about whether we really take care of ourselves. We think we do but in actuality, we don't because we don't take the time to consider it important.

We have neglected our self-care practice which would typically allow us to bring relaxation and calm into our lives. This neglect has led to us being unprepared for the highs and lows that life will bring to us.

Rather than being specific, this card feels more general so the definitive ideas of where we are neglecting ourselves is still unknown but this is a collective reading so it's important that we stop being in denial and discover where we have actually been neglecting looking after ourselves.

Why do we most need to look within for knowledge at this time?

Page of Flowers

With this card, it's showing that we still have an opportunity to grow and bloom in ways and places that others have scorned.

It's important that we don't lose our curiosity, optimism, eagerness to learn, and desire to discover. That's the energy of this Page: the dreamer who writes every idea down just in case it's "The Big One" and needs to be refined and built up before being shown to the big wide world.

There's also an element of if we want to have a truly supportive circle of friends around us, we need to be well-liked but at the same time, we can't be that way if we don't put in the work to improve who we are.

With optimism being associated with this Page, it is entirely possible that we have been feeling more negative and pessimistic recently.

What could we change about our approach to our goals moving forward?

Nine of Teacups

With this card, we are being told that any change will be positive. That is because this card is inherently positive as it almost at the end of the pip or numbered cards within the Teacup (Chalice or Cup suit).

This card feels like it is telling us to take a break from trying to make progress happen because we are so close and now there is nothing for us to do except wait for the emotional harvest that is imminent.

So perhaps the change should be taking a break so that we don't end up burned out or too tired/exhausted to celebrate the harvest that we are about to have.

While we may have been thinking negatively or pessimistically, expecting everything to go wrong, this card comes to bring us hope that things will turn round, that the harvest is approaching!

How can we best nurture ourselves as we move into the second half of the year?

The Chariot

This card seems complicated as it typically means travel or swift progress towards our goal and so it does in response to this question but it's also showing us that we may not be the ones in control of how, when, or any other details pertinent to where we will be after the second half of the year.

What this card is giving us is the opportunity to realise what it is that we desire, what it is that we dream to achieve and have in our lives. This is because we are the ones in charge of our own destiny.

If we can take a moment to think through the situation, our options and which is in our best interest, we could then see that we can overcome any obstacle that life presents to us. The only catch is that we need to be positive, confident and focused.

So we're being told to stop putting everyone else ahead of us by scheduling time to take care of our own selves. If we don't do this, then we are the main block to our own growth, learning and potential wisdom. So we are needing to make changes to how we approach life and what those changes look like aren't actually important because we need to take a break from what life was like so that we can enjoy and celebrate the harvest that is rapidly approaching (especially since the next Wheel of the Year event is the first of three harvest celebrations, Lughnasadh). Then we are needing to take a step back and be objective about any potential obstacles, since they may not be quite as horrific as we initially think or expect them to be.

I hope this has given us something to think about as perhaps these cards are only scratching the surface as there are deeper, more personal messages for us to discover on our own. If you would like this to be done by me, my diary and inbox are open.

Peace and love to all!!!!
