Merry Meet and Welcome to you magickal souls!!!!
It's time to think about the next planet to go retrograde which is Mercury. This particular retrograde happens three to four times a year, as Mercury's orbit of the Sun only lasts 88 days. In 2025, Mercury will be going retrograde three times: 15th March to 7th April, 18th July to 11th August, and 9th to 29th November.
Before anyone panics, whenever any planet goes retrograde, it is an opportunity for us to look within and consider what we might need to change within us in order to achieve the success and future we desire. Mercury is the planet of communication, ideas, and thinking. So during this time, these are the themes we need to consider during these times, and the different zodiac signs that are involved will inform the energies of those themes.
In this first retrograde, Mercury will move through Aries and back into Pisces while the Sun moves from Pisces into Aries. I think this is interesting because it amplifies the energies of the two signs and asks us to contemplate whether our communication has been too emotional or too direct, or not enough of either.
Aries is symbolised by the Ram, and is typically the sign best utilised when we need something done yesterday. It's a very direct kind of energy, as typified by the Ram who gets from A to B as quickly and easily as possible, making detours only when there are obstacles blocking the way ahead.
Pisces is a Water sign and is connected to flow as well as our emotions, so when Mercury is retrograde in Pisces, it's all about whether our communication flows easily or if there are rapid periods and then calmer ones. It could also be connected to whether we are being too emotional when we are in communication with others or if we are taking emotions completely out of everything.
With Mercury starting this retrograde in Aries during Pisces season, it's almost as if we really are being directed to look at how direct or indirect we are when we are emotional, like brushing off our emotions instead of dealing with them.
Then Mercury stays in Aries while the Sun moves into the same sign, and this could suggest that we should look at our approach to communication in general.
Finally, Mercury moves backwards into Pisces while the Sun stays put in Aries, which could indicate a need to look at how tied together our emotions are with how and what we communicate.
Perhaps during this time, we need to think about whether we have been too direct or not direct enough when in communication with others. Also the same could be said for responding emotionally to something that isn't meant to be a personal dig at us. Finding the middle ground for being direct and emotional can be challenging but it is something that we can work on.
So, let's have a look at how the collective is most likely to be affected or influenced by this particular Mercury Retrograde. I used the Good Tarot deck by Colette Baron-Reid with a spread I created myself.

How can we help our communication to flow better?
Page of Water
Water is an interesting element/suit to have for this question as it is all about flow.
With this being a Page, this card shows that there are still lessons for us to learn about communicating and our emotions. We are still learning how to manage our emotions, so adding in needing to communicate those emotions and what we might need from others and it's a complete recipe for disaster.
Perhaps what we most need to learn about how our communication can flow is to figure out our emotions first and then communicate.
Communicating while in the throes of our emotions may muddy the waters.

What do we need to work on with our direct communication?
4 of Water
It's another Water card! But this card isn't just about our flow and emotions being added into the mix.
Within this card is shown a mermaid who is holding a pearl or an air-bubble while others appear to float around her.
These air-bubbles could symbolise holding space for our emotions but one at a time rather than all at once. If we hold space for those emotions, then we should find it easier to ask directly for help, advice or assistance.
It's also important that we hold space for others to do the same so that we can all experience our emotions and receive what we need to help us to deal with them.

What aspect of our indirect communication needs our attention?
7 of Air
Well, the element of Air is associated with communication but also with thoughts and ideas. It's the element most closely associated with Mercury as well so this card may be wanting attention more than the others.
Within this card, there are two birds flying, one about to fly, three adult birds (geese, specifically), and one that looks to be adolescent.
Perhaps we need to be more free with sharing our ideas because others can add details and help us to build something from a thought. Maybe we have ideas that are fully fleshed out and waiting to be set free in the world. What will you do?

How can we balance our emotions when communicating?
Transformation
This card is the Good Tarot's alternative version of Death, as both have the number 13 within the Major Arcana.
I personally love that this card has been renamed Transformation because that is essentially what Death is about.
Death is about transforming what we no longer need into something that can breathe new life into our lives, just like Winter allows plants to do the same before Spring brings renewal again.
This card comes to tell us that we can release the emotions that don't serve us and transform them into something that can more easily direct our thoughts and ideas into the written or spoken word that we can send or give to others.
So there's a lot of emotions tied into our communications with others but sometimes those emotions can get in the way of us discussing similar ideas and thoughts that we could collaborate to imrpove and realise in this world. We need to transform how we communicate, as well as precisely what we communicate, so that we can transform the level of interaction in our lives. We cannot keep our ideas and thoughts to ourselves because they are meant to be shared.
I hope this inspires you to consider how this first Mercury Retrograde will most likely impact your lives. If you'd like a more personal look at this, my diary and inbox are open.
Peace and love to all!!!!
