Merry Meet and Welcome to you magickal souls!!!!
It's almost that time when the Summer Solstice occurs here in the Northern Hemisphere. (In the Southern Hemisphere, it's the Winter Solstice.) This event happens on 21st June or 21st December, depending on where you are in the world.
This is the time when light lasts longest in the day as the Sun has reached its peak energy but darkness manages to overpower the light as the Holly King defeats the Oak King who takes control and brings light back to the world at Yule.
The Holly and Oak Kings are just one myth or legend that is mentioned at this time. There are many others from a variety of cultures that you could discover and explore. However, there is one belief that I would like to explore today.
Since the Sun reaches its peak energy, it is believed to stand still in the sky for a time. This lends itself to the idea of using the Summer Solstice as an opportunity to turn inward and look at where we can find the nourishment we need to grow and evolve (especially since the harvests aren't quite ready just yet but they are right around the corner).
So perhaps as part of your Litha celebrations, you could take a moment to stop and bask in the sunshine (even if the sun isn't visible through clouds). It's a good practice to have and if you are so inclined, you could add in some yoga poses.
To tie all of this together, I have put together a collective reading for Litha and the deck I have used is the Earth Magic Oracle deck by Steven D. Farmer.

What most needs our inner attention this Litha?
Eight of Winter
With this card, we are being directed to our inner sense of Self as being most in need of our attention at this time.
Depicted within this card is a fairy who is dressed up exactly how she wants to look, without a care for the opinion of anyone else.
This is how we need to be: confident, unbothered by the opinions of others, and full of an absolute unbending belief in our own Selves.
The moment we start doubting who we are, what we do and anything else relating to us, that's when we start to lose our way through life.
This is what we need to be careful of and build up as Litha goes by.

Where can we find nourishment that we haven't considered before?
Four of Winter
With this card, we are being directed towards some kind of rest.
It may seem as if the impending harvests are needing attention but sometimes, tampering with them will lead to a lack of harvest.
If we want to nurture something (or someone) we occasionally have to let them go and be free to do their own thing. We might need to consider doing that right now because too much involvement can be detrimental, even if we think it's suposed to help.
Plus, we will need to save our energy for the actual harvest so doing restful and mindful activities is a must.

What area of our lives still needs to grow?
Four of Autumn
With this card, we are being shown that balance is missing from within our lives.
It's almost like this card is reinforcing the Four of Winter because that card was advising a need for balance with nurturing and doing.
So balance is needed more than just when we are approaching harvest-time. Balance is needed in every part of our lives, from self-reliance to asking for help, even spending to saving, and a lot more.
If we don't balance our Selves, then we can find that we become burned out, exhausted, unable to do anything or deal with anything.
Balance can look different to everyone though so it's important that we take the time to see what it is individually.

How can we give thanks for this golden opportunity right now?
Five of Summer
With this final card, we are being direct to give thanks by honouring and respecting ourselves, just as (most) plants do when they grow. By this, I mean that most plants will grow without trying to suffocate other plants.
We need to be like those plants by giving ourselves space while also giving space to others. We are nearby but not encroaching or constantly in the middle of other people's business.
If there is something toxic around us, we can either remove it from our vicinity or remove ourselves. It doesn't matter what form that toxicity takes either - if it needs to go, then it needs to go.
Respect your Self, Energy and Space.
It seems as if Litha wants to illuminate our Selves so that our lives can improve and evolve, just as much as a sense of balance needs to do the same. So will we do that? Will we honour Litha, our internal Shine, and who we truly are? Or will we bury our heads in the sand believing that nothing needs to change?
I hope this has given you some insight into how we can move forward from Litha into the next season. If you'd like a more personal look at the energies of this time, my diary and inbox are always open.
Peace and love to all!!!!
