Merry Meet and Welcome to you magickal souls!!!!
It's time to pick back up where we left off with my experience of the next Lesson within Francesca De Grandis' book titled "Be A Goddess". This lesson focuses on, and is titled, "Being Whole".
This lesson brought in an idea that is similar to psychology and having three parts to our Selves. In psychology, these parts are the ego, id and superego. But in this lesson, these were presented as the Conscious, Godself, and Unconscious.
The Conscious is characterised as being the main talking part, although it isn't as aware and so can miss details that could otherwise be helpful. The Godself is the God (or Goddess) within, even if its typical form is as a blue ball of energy above the head (similar to the Crown Chakra). Then there's the Unconscious, which is closest to Nature and is the most intuitive, therefore able to communicate with the Gods and the Godself due to its heightened perception.
It is seen as one of the thirteen Wiccan goals of a Witch to integrate these three parts of the Self, and is included in a list ascribed to the religion of Wicca. While I am not personally Wiccan, I can still respect ideas and concepts that I do agree with regardless of which religion they come from, and this is one I can incorporate into my own solitary Craft.
There is another name for the Un-conscious which is "fetch", which means to draw in or breathe - as shown by the phrase to "fetch a breath" although it might be better known as "catch a breath".
The Un-conscious might also be called the In-conscious because it isn't separate to the Conscious; it's within. It's also not unintelligent and neither is it dangerous as that would be a fear of Nature, which the Gods could be interpreted as us (or more specifically, me) viewing Them as unworthy of trust. Having a healthy fear and sensible cautiousness is absolutely okay and a necessary part of living.
However, along with this healthy fear, I know that I shouldn't be morbidly fearful or suspicious of wildness or the instinctual drive for simple companionship. This is something that I have had to overcome in the last year or so as I realised that I am asexual, meaning that sexual intimacy is not a key or core part of my life (especially when I have been happily single for eight years now). A relationship now needs to add value to my life, not stress.
If Nature is involved (and, in my opinion, it always is) and is considered sacred, the so the Unconscious Self can help me to embrace the gifts of life, love, pleasure, and of Nature herself. To me, this confirms that every part is sacred, of Nature and of the Self because each is linked to the others and therefore share characteristics.
Francesca did provide a lovely ritual called the "Ha Prayer" which I really like the sound of. I also feel like this is something I already do as I don't like to bounce straight out of bed and unless I'm paricularly into doing a specific spell or ritual, I also don't just jump right into it.
This Lesson made me think of how I can't breathe in clean and/or clear energy if I'm filled with stagnant and old energy, so it's equally as important for me to cleanse my Self as well as my home and altars (which I will admit to neglecting more than I would like to acknowledge). This means that housework can become a part of the general cleansing ritual, just like burning incense and smudge sticks can be part of any pre-ritual cleansing.
I will say that in my own practices, I don't tend to cleanse very often although I am starting to think that perhaps it is something I should incorporate more into my Craft. This way, I can allow good, clean energy, breath/air and love into my life and keep the cycle going, that of cleansing, protecting and blessing.
Magic always comes with a warning, usually with my favourite line from Once Upon A Time's Rumplestiltskin: "Magic always comes with a price", which typically means that every spell is a transaction which has a cost that may not be known at the time of doing the spell. I don't know how my spells will work, just that I've asked the universe and any deities to assist me with my desired outcome but they are the ones who decide how it will actually come about. Because of this, magic is dangerous but not more so than any other part of life so I still feel that I should try my best as the Goddess and God attempt to do the same.
I will admit that I wasn't sold on the idea of there being a Goddess and God who are one and the same when I started reading this book but I'm actually coming around to it. I'm starting to be open to the presence of both Goddess and God and honouring both at the same time because there cannot be one without the other.
I'm looking forward to each Lesson now and deepening my experiences. I hope that they will continue to inspire you to look into this book and doing it yourself.
Peace and love to all!!!!
