Be A Goddess: Intro

ree

Merry Meet and Welcome to all you magickal souls!!!!

This series is something I have wanted to do since I was gifted this in a collection with other magickal books several years ago. It never felt right until now so now is the time I will undertake this project.

Francesca De Grandis is also known as the Outlaw Bunny, and is descended from a long line of Italian witches who had their own family tradition of having a shamanic priest/priestess in each generation. Mysticism was a normal part of her life along with the natural and down-to-earth magick that her mum practiced and so she brings this with her own twist of spells that address the needs of real life.

The introduction to the "Be A Goddess" book was really interesting and opened me up to a new world within witchcraft and a whole new way of practicing and working with all of the energies around me. There were numerous mentions of Wicca, a religion based aroud witchcraft but created by Gerald Gardner in 1954.

It's less about the religion of Wicca and more about the Faerie Tradition, which is about Celtic shamanism. While this is a Wiccan branch, it focuses on deep inner transformation. It focuses less on the Little People and is more about the human life, how to weave it with the daily practices and tasks of life. This is interesting to me because I'm less interested in following a religion that has a lot of rules, like Christianity and Wicca, preferring instead to listen to my intuition and heart for guidance on who to follow.

However, despite the name, it is not about working with the Fae. There is another Celtic connection as it is about walking the "Third Road" and taking the Bard's path. The Third Road is a Faerie shamanist Goddess tradition that many around the world have chosen to practice. It is meant to be a third option to the two most well-known roads that lead to "heaven and hell".

Something else mentioned in the beginning of this book is that if someone isn't mentally ready to do a spell, then it won't work as well, if at all, because their individual character/personality is the basis of the energy of a spell. I definitely agree with this because I believe it to be true and if I don't feel like I've prepared for a spell or ritual, then I usually don't have the best experience or the outcome I wanted.

So if I wanted to change this, I'd have to change my mindset and how I go about preparing for spells and rituals. I would need to action a deep inner transformational change so that my outer world also felt the affects - a process that is absolutely natural.

Many cultures believed, and there are plenty that still do, that people have three parts:

  1. Conscious Self - the part that we most identify as being ourselves

  2. God Self - the part that is the most whole and perfect

  3. Unconscious Self - the part that has enormous awareness that we shy away from

But with this tradition, there is a heavy foundation in Wicca, which is not a religion I subscribe to, purely because I have yet to feel comfortable with having a God active within my practice. Maybe one day I will call myself a Wiccan but because I know that the tradition that is presented within "Be A Goddess" is meant to be done as it is given, that's what I will do.

This is especially important because it is presented as a book with a purpose of its own. It isn't a general spellbook of which there are many different versions. "Be A Goddess" is a full course that is meant to be done and experienced rather than just read or dipped into as and when I might feel like it.

Each lesson is supposed to done across the span of a week, symbolising visiting Francesca De Grandis as if she is a local Shaman who lives in the isolated hut of a hermit or village witch/wise-woman. So this is what I will do.

I hope you will return to see how my experience of each lesson goes, and to see if it's something that you are interested in.

Peace and love to all!!!!
