Mercury Goes Retrograde Again?!

It's almost time for Mercury to go retrograde again. Yes, you read that right: Mercury goes retrograde 3-4 times a year so this isn't a new thing. But it can make life a bit more challenging if you don't know how Mercury's energy can impact us and how the sign(s) Mercury is in can also influence those impacts.

There are plenty of myths and superstitions around the effects of Mercury going retrograde and most of them can be ignored but some are worth keeping in mind during this time. One of those to pay attention to is to make sure you know all of the terms and conditions when signing a contract if you can't put off signing until after Mercury goes direct again. A second thing to watch is our communication and travel, including the methods used to achieve those, as they can be disrupted wile Mercury is retrograde,

This particular retrograde will start on 17th July and ends on 10th August. While it is the shortest retrograde out of all the planets at just 24 days, sometimes these can hit us the hardest. (Pluto's retrograde is the longest at 160-ish days by comparison.)

As mentioned before that communication and travel can be impacted, that's because Mercury rules over these areas of our lives. Arguments and disagreements are likely to be more prevalent and more volatile than usual because Mercury is moving in a forward direction.

Both Mercury the planet and Mercury the Roman god are associated with all of this but there are also a few other areas that they are both connected to: luck, business and finances. This means that all or some of these areas could be impacted while Mercury is retrograde.

During this retrograde, Mercury will be in the sign of Leo. This means that there will be a greater sense of passion and "main character" energy around all of these areas. It could mean that we, or those around us, are more prone to "fly off the handle" when it comes to small issues that wouldn't matter so much when Mercury is direct. There is also a chance of personalities clashing, causing further miscommunication and misunderstandings.

Mercury being in Leo could also mean that people, especially exes, suddenly want to be back in communication with us after a period of no or limited contact. They may want to bombard us with passionate messages or trying to take us down memory lane. This may not be welcomed and that's okay because if it does happen during this retrograde, you will also have the opportunity to gain true closure by completely shutting the door on them.

Stuck in the Mud

With this card, we are being told that we need to release always being on the go. It may seem as if that's the only way things can happen but if we don't stop and savour the smaller details and wonders, we can lose sight of what is really important in life.

We are human beings, not human doings so even our species name is telling us to slow down and stop trying to be perpetual motion machines.

Constantly being on the go will always lead to burn-out, especially if we don't give ourselves any time to recover between activities and tasks.

What do we need to be most mindful of?

Spark

"You are a clear channel for Divine creativity"

With this card, we are being told that we are filled with Divine creativity so we are supposed to share our gifts, regardless of what they are, with the world.

It's also important that we do our best to ensure that our personal Spark doesn't get extinguished for any reason at all. The less we care about the opinions of others, the more we can focus on enjoying ourselves and our lives, thereby sharing our Spark with others.

Sharing our Sparks can help to direct and guide others through their lives to their own Sparks.

Coming to Life

"Something beautiful is being born in your life"

With this card, we are told that we should be mindful of what is coming to life within our lives.

We have stopped paying attention to the ideas and growth that we are always surrounded by, to the new life that is always possible.

Every day is a new start, a new beginning, a brand new day because this particular day has never happened before like this, with these specific conditions.

Being mindful and paying attention to the smaller details doesn't mean focusing on them. We just need to notice them.

How can we communicate effectively while Mercury is retrograde?

Details, Details

"The most powerful patterns are created within the tiniest details. Pay attention"

With this card, we are being told to pay attention to the nuances, the smallest inflections and micro-messages that others might try to ascribe to your words. We need to be absolutely clear that what we are telling to others cannot be misconstrued, misunderstood or even twisted to fit the purposes of others.

Clarity can be found in the details of the words we use, regardless of the method of communication we have to use.

Remember that this won't be permanent but it's a useful thing to do every so often.

Metamorphosis

"You are in the process of deep and beautiful change"

With this card, we are being shown that we can communicate with and through change.

By changing how we communicate or even just our attitude to how we communicate, that shows other people that we don't always have to argue and bicker about who said what to whom and when.

If we are prone to reacting and saying things before we have had time to think things through, then this is what needs to change. Even if the opposite is true and we spend too much time overthinking what we want to say, we have the opportunity to change the future so nothing is delayed.

How can we bring more reflection to our lives?

Intention

"Deliberate, clear intentions have the power to change your world"

With this card, we are being reminded that intentions areso important when it comes to taking action.

If we want to see change, we have to set the intention to be the start of that change and then take action on that intention. This is so that we can show others the way to change things in the future.

If we don't have any intentions, then we cannot make any kind of progress or changes in our lives. We'll just live in a permanent state of limbo, just like the new life growing within an egg but we won't hatch and grow.

So what intention will be chosen?

So this second Mercury Retrograde will really be an opportunity for us to learn how to effectively communicate with those we know and love with as little chance for misunderstanding as possible. This is also an opportunity for us to reflect on how we have communicated in the past and how we can make future communications better and clearer.
