Merry Meet and Welcome to you magickal souls!!!!
It's time to review Francesca De Grandis' "Be A Goddess" book, specifically Lesson Twelve which is titled: Healthy Spirituality Means Striving for the Good Things in Life.
It started off with acknowledging that at least some of us are taught that we aren't supposed to care about ourselves or the material things in life. That it's bad to want nice things for ourselves. That we are supposed to transcend the material realm.
The problem is that we are in the material realm. That's where we live. We can't escape it. But there's also the question of: Why can't we have nice things in our lives? Where is it written and agreed that we can't?
The answer: There is no agreement that we can't have nice things and there is nothing stopping us apart from our low self-esteem, -confidence, and -belief. Even the Ancient Celts knew that having a warm bed, good food, and loving companionship (including exploring sexuality), were all needed to be able to enjoy life.
Just because we add spirituality into the mix doesn't mean we need to be miserable and no good to anyone, including and especially to ourselves. The true goal of spirituality is to be fully human, which means enjoying the good things life has to offer us. We shouldn't be tied up with guilt and having no earthly joys, and therefore no reason to truly Live.
Magick is about being human, so casting spells for good things is part of that. Within this book, Francesca De Grandis has presented a kind of Celtic magic as live magic, the kind that should be used in everyday life.
Does magick have a point to it otherwise?
It isn't unspiritual to cast spells to bring the good things to ourselves because everyone is worthy of them, particularly the ones that we desire anyway. It is important and spiritual to use magick to bring the good things to our own lives.
A part of this can be done through visualisation. This is a method where everything is planned out as it uses thought or concept, which through visualisation, becomes energy and that then transforms into manifestation. But it is just as paramount that all our senses and emotions are used, not just sight. Feelings are powerful and full of energy, plus a part of being whole spiritually and God/Goddess-like because that is the origin of those feelings.
Precision is needed so writing all the details down is recommended, and by all that means every single detail. Specificity is supremely important. This is because visualisation is a skill rather than mathematics because the desired outcome should be seen as happening now rather than at any other time.
It is believed by some, including Francesca De Grandis, that visualisation is used for ourselves individually (or as a household) rather than for others. This is to avoid messing with Free Will.
One thing I do agree on with Francesca De Grandis is that the results of visualisation should focus on the results, the desired outcome, rather than how to get there. This is because I believe that happiness does come from within rather than just material and outer things.
Starting with simpler things is a good idea and may be the best policy to adopt. I may believe that simple things are the best things. By this, I mean that complicated or complex things are not always the best. In my spellwork, the simpler the spell is, the greater the chance it will be successful. This is not to say that we can't make a plan to get to these more complicated goals. It just means that making a list of details may be more appropriate.
If a desire or goal is not known, then divination could be used to discover it or ask for guidance on where to focus. (This is something I tend to struggle with because I don't know what it is that I want most of the time.)
There is no such thing as innate evil or a need for perfection. We are all imperfect as we have flaws and are human. We can't ignore that we feel anger, resentment and other "evil" emotions just as we do the opposites.
All life events can be connected to magick. Magick is part of empowerment as casting spells for positive attributes and/or the good things in life.
This was a really interesting Lesson for me as I never thought about whether I wanted good things but I do. I would like a new cooker, a set-up in my living room that contains all my books, DVDs and CDs in an organised manner. I deserve these things. I don't need anyone's permission to have them, just my own.
I hope this has inspired you to consider whether you feel the same, or if you disagree with me about anything. Or even if you have read this book yourself.
Peace and love to all!!!!
